Flexibility training is not natural to me, I have to stretch a lot to be flexible. I have been stretching every day for at least 30 minutes for the past 20 years. I do a lot of biking, about 100 miles a week. I do a lot of squat training, my max is 275 lbs. I value leg strength, and because I value leg strength, it makes flexibility training even harder. But that’s what Martial Arts training is all about, it’s about balance. Not only do you have to be strong, but you also have to be flexible. I’ve learned to love flexibility training just as much as I love strength training, cardio, and combat training. My body just doesn’t feel right if I don’t stretch. In this culture, flexibility training is extremely undervalued, but not at FMK!
