Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk who has refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples despite a court order, returned to work on Monday and stood by as a same-sex couple was granted a license by her deputy clerk.Earlier, Davis said she wouldn't block her deputies from issuing the licenses but wouldn't authorize them, either.U.S. District Judge David Bunning jailed Davis for six days for her refusal to comply after the Supreme Court effectively legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. He released her on Tuesday, ordering her not to "interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples."Bunning also ordered Davis' deputies in Rowan County to court and made them assure him they would issue licenses in her absence.
