Ning is one of those guys who is the nicest guy you’ll ever meet. He barely saids much in training, he keeps very quite. He doesn’t have enough aggressiveness for contact sparring, he’s the type of person that will never hit you even if you hit him a lot. The Martial Art training is here to help him get better and being defensive. So even though he does not want to attack, it still is very beneficial for him to know how to defend so that at least he does not get hurt too badly.

Here we do some no contact sparring just to get him used to blocking and countering. I also played around with a little grabbing to get him used to getting the person to release the grab.

Even though I don’t encourage ground fighting for Martial Artists, I still understand that it is a reality of something that may occur on the streets, so I never tell students that they can’t take the fight to the ground if they want to. These are one of the lessons where it did go to the ground, but it still remained in control, neither of us was angry, but I was doing some simulation attacks to give him an idea of what might happen and some defensive techniques he may have to implement to survive.

This no contact fight simulation will give the beginner a great workout and help train him to learning the tactics of self-defense without putting his health and safety at risk. A person does not have to receive broken bones and serious injuries in order to learn how to defend himself.

Ning does not have the aggressive energy within to engage in contact sparring, but even so, a well trained Martial Artist can still provide him great benefits in learning how to defend himself in a deadly encounter via no contact safe sparring while keeping his health and safety in great consideration.

Students that really have no interest in contact sparring are never forced to engage. They can still train in all the other aspects of the Martial Arts to benefit your individual growth. As I have stated in my other videos, contact sparring is not for everybody. Many people do not want to be injured and also, they do not feel too good within if they accidently injure their sparring partners, so they decide to refrain from engaging in contact sparring all together.

Though, you must understand that you may be a very peaceful person, but it does not mean that violence will not spontaneously come your way. That is where no contact sparring comes into play, then a Sifu can play the role of an aggressive violent offender who is really trying to hurt you, now you just have to do your best as a peaceful person to protect your own safety by the proper use of defensive measures.
