A committee of the Venezuela parliament will meet today in the northwestern state of Zulia. President Nicolas Maduro recently closed several border crossings with Colombia in Zulia and Tachira and declared a state of exception to deal with massive smuggling, drug trafficking, and paramilitary activity. Vice President Jorge Arreaza announced that an international symposium would be held next week to discuss the situation of Colombians living in Venezuela and the defense of their human rights. teleSUR
