Bodycam video of fatal police shooting clears Colorado cop of wrongdoing - TomoNews
TRINIDAD, COLORADO — Bodycam footage has just cleared another Colorado cop of wrongdoing in a fatal shooting.
On April 24th, Officer Ron Arlint responded to a call about a possible trespasser at the Almar Trailer Park in Trinidad Colorado. The owners said that the trailer had been vacant since October, but suspected someone had been breaking in.
As a matter of protocol, Arlint orders the owners to wait for him to check the mobile home before entering, unaware that anyone is inside.
Arlint encounters Todd Jamal Dye hiding in a back room, and orders the young man to the ground. As Arlint is about to radio in the situation, Dye makes a break for it, fumbling for his gun.
Before he can shoot, Arlint shouts a warning and then fires five times.
The audibly shaken Arlint can be heard panting for minutes after the shooting, while goosebumps appear on his arms.
A superior officer orders Arlint away from the scene to prevent the appearance of tampering and asks whether he had his bodycam on.
Unknown to Arlint, Dye had escaped from a Colorado Spring Community Correctional Facility.
