Good cop: Mom’s Facebook ‘thank you’ to honest, helpful police officer goes viral - TomoNews
ROCKY MOUNT, VIRGINIA — A doctor in Virginia took to Facebook over the weekend to praise a police officer who helped her stranded son.
Joseph Owusu, 20, was driving his mercedes home from Virginia Tech last weekend when his car blew a rear tire on Route 220 south around midnight.
A Virginia state trooper vehicle pulled up behind Joseph’s. Officer Matt Okes got out of the car and immediately got to work trying to fix the tire.
“This kind officer approached him and[sic] didn't ask if the little Mercedes was stolen but rather got on his knees to replace his tire,” Joseph’s mother Nada later posted to Facebook.
Officer Okes edly stayed with Joseph until AAA arrived. He kept his headlights fixed on Joseph’s car so passing trucks and cars would go around them.
When Nada Owusu arrived, she snapped a picture of her son and Officer Okes. She shared the picture on social media with a long caption, praising the cop’s efforts.
“Today I salute officer Okes! He is our hero and our ‘Good Samaritan,’” she wrote.
More than 22,000 people have shared the post.
Nada Owusu — who works as a pediatrician in Danville, Virginia — later told WTVR: “There’s a lot of good in America and that needs to be heard. Police need our support.”
