Live Shooting WDBJ wow!![1]
WDBJ7 News er Alison Parker, 24, and her cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were killed in a shooting captured on live TV Wednesday morning. The gunman, Bryce Williams (aka Vester L. Flanagan) remained at large for a time, but was eventually tracked down by police. Schools were placed on lockdown and he was pursued down I-81. He eventually turned the gun on himself, but survived his suicide attempt. When police got to him, he still had a pulse. He is currently listed in critical condition.
The scene of sudden shock and horror at a pedestrian plaza in Moneta, Va. was captured during a routine news story on WBDJ7, a station in Roanoke.
In the video, er Alison Parker is interviewing a woman, Vicki Gardner, at Bridgewater Plaza about tourism in the area. As they talk, about seven shots ring out, as Parker and the woman scream and take cover.
Vicki was shot in the back and was last known to be in surgery. Alison and Adam were both killed in the attack.
The gunman, identified professionally as Bryce Williams but born Vester L. Flanagan, was located and pursued by police nearly 200 miles away. He attempted to elude capture and then crashed the rental car he was driving. He had turned the gun on himself and initially survived. As of yet, it’s not known the precise moment he pulled the trigger; before the crash or after.
He was hospitalized with a pulse and was listed in critical condition. At 1:30 p.m. EST, however, he succumbed to his injuries.
