On May 3, Toys R Us held a special event celebrating everything Star Wars in preparation for Star Wars day, May the fourth! ("May the force be with you... May the fourth be with you"- Get it?)
In celebration of the upcoming Star Wars film, Episode VII: the Force Awakens, Toys R Us partnered with LEGO to premiere a new Star Wars set, the Wookiee Gunship! (Did you know that some Star Wars materials spell Wookiee as "WOOKIE" and others as "WOOKIEE?" Weird, right?)
We attended the special Star Wars event at a Toys R Us store near us, and had a great time! There were many kids and Star Wars fans eager to see the premiere of the new LEGO toys. Many were dressed in costumes as their favorite Star Wars characters like Darth Vader and Storm Troopers! (We took a quick look at some Crayola brand candy while we were at it!)

The Star Wars series is a science fiction film series created by George Lucas and Lucasfilm, but is currently owned by Walt Disney. The film series is broken into three sets of trilogies, the original trilogy, a prequel trilogy, and the upcoming sequel trilogy beginning with Star Wars VII: the Force Awakens. Each of these movies involve a battle between the dark side and the light side of the force, where Jedi knights and rebels such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca the Wookiee, Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, Lando Calrissian, R2-D2, C-3PO, and Obi-Wan Kenobi fight against the the forces of evil including Emperor Palpatine, Jabba the Hut, Boba Fett, Jango Fett, Darth Maul, General Grievous, Darth Sidius, the Storm Troopers, and of course, Darth Vader. There have been many Star Wars spin-off media, like video games, comics, animated tv shows, t-shirt and clothes designs, novels, cosplay, even symphony orchestra performances.
LEGO is a property of the Lego Group, and is a toy set for children involving snapping together small bricks to build many different items from familiar properties like Harry Potter, Batman, Marvel Superheroes, TMNT, the Lord of the Rings and the Pirates of the Caribbean. LEGO also had a smash hit movie in 2014 with The LEGO Movie. There are even LEGO theme parks in California, Europe and Malaysia! Wow!
