In a television address from Beijing where he is on an official visit, Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro renewed Caracas' appeal for a peaceful resolution to the Colombia border crisis. Maduro called for a direct meeting with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos to resolve the issue.
