What if I want to return home or travel abroad during my holidays as a part of my MBBS course in Russia?

Once the university has announced the holiday dates, you need to immediately apply for something called the ‘Exit-Re-Entry’ visa. This document will allow you to leave Russia for a short period and return without submitting your student visa permanently. This application needs to be accompanied by a few copies of passport sized photos and a fee. You must also specify the time period for which you will be away, that is, when you will be leaving and when you will be returning. This will be the period for which your visa will remain valid. The application must be made at least three weeks before you are scheduled to leave. If you happen to lose this document, you will not be allowed to enter Russia again without a re-application procedure which has to be undertaken by the university where you were studying. Replacements take about four to six weeks and so, students are highly advised to attach their visa slip with their passports.
