The Colombian government failed to obtain sufficient votes during a session of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the regional body to intervene in its dispute with Venezuela over the latter's decision to close its border. The OAS member countries expressed the view that the issue was an internal matter that the two countries should resolve diplomatically.
