New Horizons has a potential new mission.

New Horizons made waves by giving humanity its first-ever close glimpse of the surface of the dwarf planet Pluto.

And now, the probe may have a new target - 2014 MU69. It can be found within the Kuiper Belt, an icy expanse of celestial objects near the outer edge of the solar system.

2014 MU69 was discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2014 and resides about a billion miles away from Pluto.
