Every day, the list of migrant tragedies grows longer. This week alone, 105 bodies were recovered from a capsized boat off Libya, and there was the shocking discovery of 71 bodies in an abandoned truck on the side of the motorway in Austria. Some 300,000 have reached Europe so far, and with Germany as the destination of choice, Merkel has called on the rest of the EU to share the burden.
