Canadian Rights Activist on Genocide Committed by Rios Montt

Cody Weddle speaks by telephone this evening with Grahame Russell in Canada. The Director of Rights Action clarifies that ex dictator Efrain Rios Montt was found guilty of genocide in 2013, a verdict that was overturned 10 days later due to massive corruption in Guatemala. The genocide was part of a pattern of U.S. backed military regimes operating across Latin America. Under the presidency of Ronald Reagan, the genocide peaked in certain Mayan regions of Guatemala, where over 250,000 people were massacred or disappeared. Russell expects the trial to be a replay of the earlier trial. teleSUR
