The Okanogan Complex of five wildfires was the largest in the history of Washington state by August 24, having scorched 256,567 acres, according to KING 5 News citing fire spokesman Rick Isaacson. About 1,250 firefighters were working to subdue the fires, which were just 10 percent contained by that date, while evacuations of several areas continued, Inciweb said.
