Guatemala: President Refuses to Step Down

2015-08-25 2

Last night Guatemalan President Otto Perez Molina stated in a national press conference that he will not resign. His denial flies in the face of information released by Guatemala’s Attorney General and the National Anti-Impunity Commission of the president’s leadership in the corruption case known as “La Linea,” in which government officials deviated funds from the country’s Customs Service to private accounts. The national protest movement that has been demanding Perez Molina’s resignation vows to step up their mobilizations. Gerardo Torres reports from Central America for teleSUR
