Fast paced and packed with information, this film explores the bountiful and beautiful natural resources of Arizona. The first half of the film focuses on Arizona’s booming mine operations of the early 1900’s, with a great lesson on the early history of gold and silver mining in Arizona.
Copper, gold, silver, mica, gypsum, silica, feldspar, clay, manganese, mercury, and coal mining operations in Tombstone, Ajo, Miami, Ray, Jerome, Magma, Duncan, Yuca and The San Francisco region are featured. From open-pit to underground, cave specific mining operations are shown, including the Eagle Pither, Iron King, Red Rover, Alvarado, Golden Turkey, Tom Reid, and the Producers. The second half of the film focuses on natural farming and the beauty of the Arizona landscape. Arizona’s vast farming and agriculture operations are discussed, which include carrots, sugar beets, asparagus, cotton, dates, oranges, grapefruits, pecans, figs, and cattle. Visits are taken to Montezuma Castle National Monument, Oregon Pipe Cactus National Monument, the Petrified Forest, the Painted Desert, Mission of St. Xavier Del Bac, Hope Creek Canyon, the Dragoon Mountains, the lava beds of Sunset Crater and a various Native American ruin sites, including cliff dwelling ruins. The film ends with a brief discussion about the tourism industry in Arizona while a cowboy entertains guests by performing horse riding tricks at a dude ranch.
