PSM Secretary-General S Arutchelvan who defied Pakatan Rakyat and stood in the Semenyih state constituency to face incumbent Johan Abd Aziz of BN and Hamidi Hasan of PKR, says that by standing and splitting opposition votes, PSM has indirectly thwarted PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's ambitions to be Menteri Besar of Selangor.

By garnering just over 5,500 votes, PSM had succeeded in denying at least one PKR seat in the state assembly for the 'Azmin Ali camp'.

As it stands both PAS and DAP have 15 seats and PKR 14 allowing these two coalition partners to have their voices heard in who is to become Menteri Besar of Selangor.

In so doing, Azmin loses a bargaining power over the other Pakatan factions in hiis sinister power play.
