The Temuans, as all Orang Asli, are left often at wit's end as to claiming their rights on what they consider to be their land. Regardless of what government runs the state, they are often left gaping at the degradation of their environment and there is nothing they can do about it.
According to Raymond Tan a concerned citizen and activist who is helping the Temuan of Kampung Pulau Kempas to have their voices of discontent heard, the area known as Mukim Tanjung Duabelas of Kuala Langat of 17,900 acres is Asli reserve. This reserve was demarcated by the British Colonial government in the early 1900s.
But since Malaya became independent from British colonial rule in 1957, this reserve seems not to have been recognised by the government.
Heading the list of their discontent is the excavation of sand and red earth near their village, which they say are detrimental to their environment.
