The Honduran government has declared the National Water Company bankrupt. The crisis ridden company had already dismissed 193 workers, without paying salaries and benefits, and further layoffs are anticipated. The union denies workers had any role in the company's mismanagement and that it can be saved. The declaration of bankruptcy is viewed as a prelude to the water company's privatization.
