After a 20-year absence, the Guardian Angels are back in Central Park.
The citizen-based group was a common sight there in the 1980s, when crime was rampant. 
They gave up the watch shortly after Rudy Giuliani became New York City’s mayor, citing intensified police presence as a key reason behind their retirement from park patrol.
Though New York has had much success with keeping criminal activity at bay since, a recent surge prompted the group to put their red jackets and berets back on and resume their watch.
