Pig Rider ‎" Heterophonie" 1976 UK Psych Folk Rock mega rare acetape in Deroy label

Pig Rider was formed in Kent, UK, in the late '60s by John Mayes and Colin Kitchener. With a lil' help from some friends they recorded and self-released a series of acetate only psych-folk albums in the mid-'70s ('Heterophonies', 'Bloody Turkey Sandwiches'), which are prime examples of early DIY psychedelic music, and highly sought-after since a review of 'Heterophonies' appeared in the 'Galactic Ramble' book.

Pig Rider were a pioneering DIY psych / folk / rock band formed in the late 60s by John Mayes and Colin Kitchener. After creating some of the rarest homemade psych-full albums from the 70s, they continued recording in the early 80s, releasing a bunch of privately pressed cassettes.
Bedroom psychedelia, outsider synth-pop and lysergic folk with lot of fuzzed out guitars, cheap electronics & keyboards and raw, homemade vibe. And not forgetting very funny and bizarre lyrics. Think Instant Automatons, Desperate Bicycles or Beyond The Implode if they could write brilliant pop songs.

This is a vinyl reissue of their unofficial LP 'Heterophonics', originally pressed by the English custom label Deroy as a very private edition of five acetates in 1975. The music is an amazing mix of psychedelic electric folk, acid folk and twisted pop with funny and/or bizarre lyrics, tape experimentation, notable effects and a stoned, homemade DIY vibe. This intriguing album is available for a wider audience at last. Not only for fans of the Incredible String Band, Bonzo Dog Band, Syd Barrett or R. Stevie Moore... Edition of 300 copies with sound from the master tapes and an insert offering photos and lyrics.
