GST is no magic cure for bankruptcy, say MPs

Implementing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will not be a miracle cure to stave the country from bankruptcy, opposition MPs told Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today.

DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, PKR's Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, and PAS' Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad also demanded that Najib make a firm stand on the country's financial situation and reveal to the people if the country is facing bankruptcy or is in a healthy financial condition.

Najib was reported yesterday to have said that the country would face bankruptcy if GST is not implemented, while his deputy In Finance Ministry, Ahmad Maslan, told Dewan Rakyat yesterday that the country is still in sound financial situation.
