Honduras – Critics Demand Review of Secrets Law
Civil society groups in Honduras are demanding a revision and/or repeal of the Secrets Law that protects all information having to do with security and defense activities. According to the law the armed forces and the police will not be held accountable in their use of public resources, critics say the law restricts access to information and creates ideal conditions for illicit acts, especially in the purchases and contracting of state goods and services. Many feel that the Secrets Law should be abrogated. Gerardo Torres reports from Central America for teleSUR
