Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad says it is better for the government to cut cost or maintain existing prices of necessities, instead of raising them.
In a blog posting, and citing the "cost down" principle, Mahathir says when a business is faced with competition or its cost of production reduces its profits, it can either increase prices or reduce cost.
