Web TV: Looking back with M'sian pioneers

It's been 13 years since the unmistakeable sound of a dial-up modem was replaced by the silence of broadband connection to the internet.

In that relatively short period of time the internet was transformed from an electronic mail and casual surfing tool to an intense multimedia experience.

Two of the early experimenters and pioneers, N Azman Yusoff of the former Cyberjaya.tv and Kamarul Muhamed who operated Malaysia.tv during those early days, takes us back to the early years.

We speak to Premesh Chandran, Malaysiakini.com's chief executive who saw online video as a means to reach a section of the community who would be better served with news in an audio-visual format.

And we speak also to Jahabar Sadiq, CEO of The Malaysian Insider to find out why he has so far not offered video news for his readers.
