Hundreds of activist marched on the Peruvian Congress on Wednesday night to demand the legalization of abortion in case of rape. Like many Latin American countries, Peru restricts abortion although it is allowed when the mother’s life is in jeopardy or when her health is endangered. Approximately 350,000 clandestine operations are performed every year. Activists marched topless to pressure Congress in a demonstration that was violently repressed. TeleSUR
