Moscow has expanded its food import ban to include Albania, Montenegro, Lichtenstein and Iceland. The countries are added to the list which the Kremlin drew up in a tit-for-tat action after the West imposed sanctions over Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also told the government that certain imported foods from Ukraine will be banned if an economic association agreement between Kyiv and the European Union came into force.
Russia’s counter-sanctions are currently in place until August 5 2016. The ban includes meat, fish, dairy products, fruit and vegetables.
