Peru: Billionaire Companies Not Fined for Damaging Environment

Independent investigative journalists working in Peru have revealed that mining companies are benefitting from the elimination of fines. The government has not charged these companies with fines ranging from US$ 6 to 10 million for environmental violations, according to a study by the investigative journalism team Convoca. The beneficiaries are 47 billionaire U.S. based companies that have been found guilty of damaging the environment. Rael Mora reports for teleSUR from Quito
