At least five people have been killed and 16 wounded after a car bomb exploded near the entrance to Kabul airport.
It comes just days after another deadly attack in the Afghan capital killed dozens of civilians and wounded hundreds more.
Claiming responsibility, a Taliban spokesperson said that the target was a convoy of foreigners, though it’s unclear if any were killed or injured.
The escalation of violence in recent weeks follows a change in Taliban leadership, and has destroyed any hope of resuming peace talks with the government.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has accused neighbouring Pakistan of sending ‘a belligerant message” after the series of attacks which has left more than 56 people dead in Kabul in the last four days.
During a press conference he said the attacks in Kabul proved that Pakistan was still harbouring ‘suicide training camps’.
