This year Peru will drop to 11th place in Latin American economic growth, say researchers. In the first decade of the century, Peru grew at a rapid pace due to high mineral prices. During that time, Peruvian governments implemented neoliberal reforms and signed free trade agreements, promising long-term sustainable growth. The current administration of Ollanta Humala continued in the same vein. Critics, however, say such politics have only resulted in concessions to business, an attack on workers’ rights and economic stagnation. Rael Mora reports from Lima for teleSUR
