Leading human rights activist shot in Burundi's capital

In Burundi, a leading human rights activist is shot and seriously injured in the capital Bujumbura. It comes just a day after the president's senior aide was assassinated in a drive-by shooting. Nigeria's military says it's freed nearly 180 hostages, among them over 100 children, held by Boko Haram in the country's northeast. And as Egypt prepares to inaugurate the New Suez Canal, we look at some of the extraordinary artefacts discovered while the project was in full swing.
