Colombia: Regional Candidates Linked to Paramilitary Groups

As peace talks proceed in Havana, FARC negotiators have expressed their concern about corruption in Colombia’s local and regional elections to be held in October. They cite the Electoral Observation Mission as saying that traditional political parties likely to win the elections are endorsing candidates with links to paramilitary and organized crime groups. At least 140 candidates are linked to such groups. Meanwhile parties that have been historically excluded are demanding political participation. Natalia Margarita reports from Bogota for teleSUR.
