Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow video review of Batman Forever for the SEGA Genesis developed by Probe Entertainment and published by Acclaim. Batman Forever wasn’t exactly embraced by Batman fans, and the video game adaptation didn’t fare much better with gamers. A notorious example of just how bad movie-based games can be, Batman Forever is sort of a mess. Ostensibly a beat ‘em up, the game actually reuses the old Mortal Kombat game engine, which would be fine if this were a fighting game. Turns out fighting game mechanics don’t translate to an action game where movement and platforming is required. Derek reviewed the Super NES version years ago, but understandably, he blocked it out of his memory and accidentally reviewed the Genesis version, too. Batman Forever features single-player and local multiplayer on the SEGA Genesis. This video review features video gameplay footage of Batman Forever for the SEGA Genesis and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.
