LBN’s Bob Donley follows up an earlier LBN report on private prisons with a list of pros and cons. Private prisons can do the job for less, they say, but some of them also want occupancy guarantees that take all the risk out of the game. Private prisons may be more efficient, but states can also become too dependent on having private companies do what states should do for themselves.
