Students at SJK (T) Sungai Bakap in Penang are facing a dire situation. Their school over half a century old is in a state of ruin and could collapse at any given time. Most of the school building is said to be no longer safe and there are signs of termite infestation.

In addition to these poor conditions, there is also the problem of a lack of equipment for the students. There are no fans in the six classrooms, leading to stuffy conditions which causes the students to sweat while they study in the hot weather. There are also no recreational areas for the school such as fields or courts.
