More than twice as many women are killed with a gun by their husbands or intimate partners than by strangers in the United States. As the number of cases of domestic violence increases, the use of firearms in these attacks is a major concern. One in four women in the United States experiences severe violence from a partner in her lifetime, and guns in the wrong hands turn domestic violence into murder.
