Mexico: Human Rights Abuses Again Places Military in the Spotlight

Human rights abuses committed Sunday by the Mexican army in the village of Ostula, Michoacan, in which a child was killed, and last week in Zacatecas, in which seven youth were kidnapped and killed by soldiers, have once again put the military under the spotlight. Given the impunity enjoyed by the military, the armed forces' legitimacy in the eyes of the population has suffered. The semi-official National Human Rights Commission has pledged an investigation into both cases. Clayton Conn reports from Mexico City. teleSUR
