Mobile protest French farmers block Lyon in product price war

French farmers demonstrating against the diminishing prices of beef, pork and milk have taken their protest the French city of Lyon.

Farmers blocked roads going north to the capital and south to Marseille as well as east to Switzerland on the third day of action.

It comes despite a government aid package to the industry of €600m.

For those on the roads of Lyon it is insufficient.

Vincent Pestre, is the secretary general of the FDSEA union: “We have extra taxes and obligations that don’t exist in other countries. These are the problems the French state has to resolve. The government has to take its responsibility, today it took the first step, but it must go further, it must use its influence to get a price increase for farmers.”
