In response to a series of corruption cases involving lawmakers, the Chilean congress made an unprecedented collective mea culpa yesterday. The legislators acknowledged the damage caused by corruption in terms of public confidence. Also dogged by corruption allegations is President Michele Bachelet, whose popularity has plummeted to 24%, as a result of dealings involving a company owned by her eldest son Sebastian Davalos's wife and the Banco de Chile. teleSUR
