According to reports, President Obama will not be staying at the Waldorf-Astoria during his current visit or going forward, likely due to concerns about privacy since the hotel was sold to a Chinese company last year.
President Obama is breaking a decades-long tradition--he will not be staying at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel during his trip to New York City on Friday; instead, Millennium’s ONE UN will reportedly become his new local base.
The change is thought to be made after the Waldorf-Astoria was sold to the Chinese-owned Anbang Insurance Group last year for $1.95 billion.
