Iran’s foreign minister has been welcomed back to his country’s capital after concluding a landmark nuclear deal with six world powers in Vienna.

Under the agreement, Iran will limit its nuclear programme in return for the lifting of sanctions imposed by the European Union, United States and United Nations.

Mohammad Javad Zarif told reporters: “...the negotiations have ended and next week the UN Security Council will approve a resolution that for the first time in its history will officially recognise the enrichment of nuclear power of a developing country.”

Under the resolution any UN sanctions relief would happen at the same time the International Atomic Energy Agency verifies that Iran has implemented the agreed nuclear measures.

An arms embargo and ballistic missile technology ban would remain in place.
