Colombian Society Hails Deescalation Measures

Colombian social movements greeted the government's announcement that it would adopt measures to deescalate the armed conflict with optimism. Although a bilateral ceasefire has yet to be accepted, the latest government move, in response to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia's (FARC) declaration of a unilateral truce, is considered a step forward in the peace process.
