Pope Francis tours South America. celebrated an open-air Mass at Los Samanes Park in Guayaquil, Ecuador on July 6th, 2015.
In the sermon, he referred to the challenges families are facing today and continued that "Christ can take even what might seem to us impure, scandalous or threatening, and turn it ... into a miracle. Families today need miracles!".
Pope Francis asked people to pray for the October Synod of Bishops on the family, and he tied the synod to the Jubilee of Mercy, a yearlong celebration that will begin in December.
