UK: Thousands turn out to cheer as Princess Charlotte is christened

Just like any other christening, it was all about the baby.

But as Britain’s Royals baptised Princess Charlotte, she had to share the limelight with big brother George – taking some of his first steps in public life.

For Prince William and his wife Kate, this was their first public outing with their two children – and it was near their country home in Norfolk in eastern England on the Queen’s Sandringham estate that Sunday’s private service was held.

But well-wishers were not far away and thousands turned out to greet Charlotte Elizabeth Diana and her family as they left The Church of St Mary Magdalene.

The princess’s full name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, is a nod to her late grandmother Princess Diana and her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth.
