These are four children who are going to work place instead of school like this more than 5 lacs children just in Karachi are living on the street and doing child labor.
According to the National child labor survey, approximately 10.2 million children below 14 years are working as a labour in Pakistan. This includes both boys and girls.
This scenario depicts how moderate Pakistani parents are letting their children to work as labourers in order to earn money and survive in this world.
As a result, the majority of children works overtime for Rs 50 to Rs100, which seems a matter of grave concern. What is required is that the government must take a step to solve this issue.
The International Labour Organization (ILO) defines child Labour as:
1- when a child is working during early age
2- he overworks or gives over time to Labour
3- he works due to the psychologically, socially, and materialistic pressure
4- he becomes ready to Labour on a very low pay
experts Say’s,
“Child Labour” is generally speaking work for children that harms them or exploits them in some way (physically, mentally, morally or blocking access to education),
United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund(UNICEF) defines “child” as anyone below the age of 18, and “child Labour” as some type of work performed by children below age 18. (UNICEF)
Pakistan is still among the top ten countries with the child labor issues, as the world observes International Day Against Child Labor
It is an outcome of a multitude of socio-economic factors and hasoots in poverty,lack of opportunities high rate of population growth ,unemployment and even undistribution of wealth and resources.
In Sindh Province government has started a Child Protection Unit but they are not functioning.
