U.S. Now Has Second Largest Spanish Speaking Population After Mexico

The US has more spanish speakers now than in Spain.

America has just claimed a new distinction in its reputation as one of the most diverse countries. 

Based on its research, the Instituto Cervantes, a language and culture organization, has found that the U.S. is home to the second largest population of Spanish speakers in the world. 

With a group numbering around 52.6 million, it has exceeded Colombia's 48 million speakers and Spain's 46 million but contains less than half that of Mexico which has 121 million. 

Within the U.S., 41 million claim Spanish as their native tongue
