Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde is facing charges of irregularities in awarding contract for fire extinguishers. The finance Priyanka

department has sought a probe into charges of irregularities in a contract worth Rs 191 crore. The contract has been put on hold after irregularities were found in the deal where e-tendering route was also not followed. The case pertains to the supply of fire extinguishers to 62,105 zilla parishad schools in Maharashtra. Tawde has said that he himself was thinking of a probe after finance department raised alarm. “This is a scam and needs to be probed and the joke is Tawde says he wants investigation, question is how did he pass the order?” said activist Anjali Damania.
