Ecuador: National Debate Begins on Controversial Taxes

2015-06-24 2

In Ecuador national dialogues are underway following right-wing protests and the temporary suspension of inheritance and capital gains tax bills aimed at reducing social inequality. Government ministers have met with indigenous and campesino organizations, artisans and small-scale producers in an effort to include all sectors of the society in the debate. The results of the debate will be presented on September 15, and it will then be decided whether the controversial bills will be resubmitted to the National Assembly.
