IRON MAN 3 SETS BOX OFFICE RECORDS (Escapist News Now)
The third installment in the Iron Man franchise posted the second-highest domestic box office opening of ALL TIME!
Iron Man 3 has already surpassed Iron Man 2 in gross global revenue with an estimated $175.3 million dollars in ticket sales across the U.S. and Canada, right behind The Avengers which had $207.4 million last year.
Analysts say Tony Stark is unlikely to topple The Avengers total haul which totalled over $1.5 Billion worldwide but he is tracking to gross more than $1 Billion dollars worldwide. If it does it will join the company of such films as The Dark Knight, Skyfall, and Toy Story 3. Much of the sales can be attributed to 3D and IMAX tickets, similar to other major box office record holders.
